Thank You, Sea

Created by Parents for Future Ceredigion in partnership with the Ceredigion Local Nature Partnership, with funding from the Local Places for Nature scheme, Diolch, Môr – Thank You, Sea is a new community film celebrating Ceredigion’s coastline and highlighting the importance of protecting the marine environment.

Diolch, Môr – Thank You, Sea has been produced by Parents for Future Ceredigion, a local branch of the national organisation working to secure a safer and fairer future for children. The film brings together the voices, experiences and memories of local people from across the county, exploring what the sea means to them and why it is important to protect it for future generations.

Inspired by a public screening of Ocean with David Attenborough in Aberystwyth earlier this year, the project invited people from across Ceredigion to share footage and personal stories celebrating their connection with the sea and coastal environment.

More than 30 people contributed to the project. Produced and edited by Steve Buckley, the film follows water on its journey from source to sea while highlighting the need to protect marine habitats from pollution.

The film features music from Y Pibydd Coch by Cerys Hafana, taken from her album Edyf and used with her generous permission. The Welsh translation was provided by Mari Ellis-Dunning.
