read moreAll the students had great ideas and it was brilliant to see how everyone had gone away and learnt so much about nature since our last meeting. There was a lot of enthusiasm with one student championing not just a design but a whole new inspiring way of working, ‘thinking like a bee’ where plants and habitats are prioritised and paid for at the start of the project so that they are never sacrificed if things are running over-budget or behind schedule. This is something that would really help with our nature recovery goals. There were 6 design presentations and then the staff and students voted on their favourite one that they will build in July. The winning design will be developed and built by the students as part of the Ceredigion Nature Partnership Tŵr Gwyllt challenge fund.

It was a brilliant event with stalls, activities and information about beautiful and fascinating butterflies, moths and bees so I thought I would fill a gap and give people a chance to make their own mini hoverfly lagoon, based on the Buzz Club project ideas, which is a micro-habitat where hoverflies can lay their eggs and complete their life-cycle

A badger survey was carried out on the 12th May 2026 at Pendinas Local Nature Reserve. We met in the car park at Spencer’s Sheds and walked up the path, through Zig Zags and meadows. Badger activity was found, including paths and unused badger sets. We then walked to the other side of Pendinas, finding signs of badger activity, including unused and currently used badger sets. It’s great to work with Gretchen and the Ceredigion Badger Society, who care so much about the conservation of Badgers.
